I am surprised Odyssey was not in the Plano labor day tournament; that's the one they chose the past few years and it is the biggest one of the 2. Anybody knows why they switched ?
(Who won, what was the score in the final by the way?)

I heard #13 was distracted at the strip club when he was registering and accidentally put Odyssey in Arlington instead of Plano.

Odyssey won the tourney.

There seems to be some kind of trend with Odyssey. They missed a few prime time tourneys, pass on a few others and missed the plano labor day. It has been month since we haven't seen the team in a "Gold" tournament. It is starting to be a bit awkward...

I can tell you what is odd, 10 year olds playing at 104 degree temperature 4+ games on a long weekend. Now that is odd.

Odyssey as a club has always used tournaments as a training tool towards development and end of season goals. I don't think they are as preoccupied with the GS points, trophies and and little medallions as some other teams and most parents.

While I would agree with the "don't really give a ratsass about what anybody else thinks"  component...we did take our little medallions from Arlington.   I wore my son's to work today over my suit and made everyone in the office call me "champ".

Plano last year was not much of an advert for a return.   Poor seeding or fear of girls or something resulted in no depth in the gold flight.  Wait 2 hours for refs for semi-final.  Play 11v11 final on a 9v9 field.  Long haul.  All exacerbated by coach being out of town, so I vowed not to come back.    Arlington did not turn out to be real competitive this year though DTS Red was a challenging game.   Would likely have skipped it or done U12 if I knew, but in the end was good for our newer kids to get a lot of PT and play different positions so no big deal.

They will get tired of going out to Plano/Frisco every weekend for next several years. Arlington was probably a great change of scenery. Plus I am sure it was easier fo rthose going to the LSU/TCU game Saturday night... right?
