I don't like it for the kids. It invites a lot of high pressure and the officials still seem unsure about the rule itself.

Trying to encourage play out of the back instead of a keeper just punting it down the field. But, it's only for U9-U10. Kids (and parents) have enough trouble with the offside rule as it is but for two years, let's tell the kids you aren't offside until you pass this dotted line. And when the keeper drops it, it's in play but make sure you're defense is behind the line first. You are right, Jax. As soon as kids see the vulnerability, they sprint up and steal the ball. I guess since the kids can't head the ball, it's a way for safer play. I am not a fan of it. I am a parent and also a parent who went and got certified as a ref to understand the rules better. It's counterproductive, IMO
