D2 Results and Thoughts

Post by Fanofson on 10/11/2017, 3:27 pm

America 0 FCD Red 3
LVPL Hunt 0 NTX Celtic 3
Kicks 3 FC Premiere 0
Real GP 1 DT Craft 2
Texans Faber 2 Mexico 1

No real surprises in the winners. From what I saw Celtic is looking to past form with good ball control. Real GP seemed to be really pressuring Craft but Craft's experience allowed them to hold on. Mexico's players fought very hard (in spite their coach seemed to be more focused on picking a fight with the officials and the competing coaches) especially once they had a player take an early bow due to those pesky yellow pieces of plastic.

With a game left until the turn, there is still a very tight race between Faber (21 pts), Craft (19 points) and Dallas Kicks(18 points). FCD Red and Real GP are still creeping just behind waiting for the leaders to stumble so they can attempt to slingshot past.

FCD Red will have to start scoring more goals if they're going to go anywhere, but Real GP seems to be climbing up the rankings. Fanofson, what are your score predictions for the games this weekend?

Got no game,

Sorry I got busy at work and did not check the forum on Friday. I can comment after the fact though.

I was a bit surprised by FCD Red beating Dallas Kicks with a last minute goal. I watched the second half of this game and was very impressed with Red's tenacity. Even against the wind they controlled the ball a majority of the time. The red card given to the Kicks player was one of the most vicious fouls I have seen in youth soccer in quite a while. Anywhere else and that kid would have to worry about hiring a lawyer. I knew a few seconds before the hit what was about to happen. He had no intention of getting to the ball. By that time the ref had allowed things to get out of hand. Injury was inevitable. FCD Red took advantage of it. Now Kicks will have to contend with Real GP this week without one of their better attackers.

Another pleasant surprise over the weekend was Celtic's 3-1 victory over Mexico. I had figured this would be a tie or perhaps I figured Mexico would squeak out a win.

The rest of the results went about as expected. ReaL GP took care of business against the last place Liverpool team 5-0.

Craft continued their defensive dominance with a 3-0 victory over America.

Faber unleashed their aggravations from their previous weeks lackluster performance with an 11-2 victory over Forzi. Forzi's team allowed inner team bickering to lose focus.

Your thoughts?

This is a common theme with the Forzi teams. For the most part the boys are not nice to each other and they fight a lot. Known quite a few kids to leave because of this.

Regarding FCP, has anyone seen the "overage man child"? I don't think he is on the FCP '02 team these days. Maybe the '99 team, but not the '02 team. FCP also lost a good defender (I believe) and I am not sure if the coach is still importing kids from out of town. I am sure all of these losses factor in to recent performance.

Yes, I believe all of these issues for them are contributing to their current performance.
