This is an old video from back in 2007 - I haven't seen it in awhile, but thought it is something parents and coaches should look at each year.   This is for player development in youth leagues (before HS age).  

Just substitute soccer for hockey, and ball for puck.  (Or basketball, baseball, etc).  

Starting at about 3:20 in video:  

75-80% of time at college level still spent on skill development.  

Best quote: "If you cant do things technically, you can't do them tactically . . ."  

Another good one:  "Allow kids to handle the puck (ball), allow kids to take risks".
