D3 taking it to D2, again.

Post by Gameday 04 on 3/12/2017, 9:00 am

A big shout out to all the DIVISION 3 teams taking it to DIVISION 2 at the PRESIDENTS CUP. Most notably #5 FALLS TOWN beating #1 AYSES GOLD 2-0.
Yes, just to clarify- the #5 team in D3 who is fighting to stay out of relegation zone, beat the #1 team in D2 who will be promoted to D1 next year. What's most important here is congrats to Falls Town for always bringing it!

Here are the D3 vs D2 matchups so far;
DIV 3. DIV 2 SCORE
#5 F.T. #1 Ayses Gold. 2-0
#6 Sol/Chelsea. #2 Fever United 0-0
#3 FCD Kang. #2 Fever United 4-0
#1 Chelsea E. #4 Athletico Esp. 4-1

More games to come, have a safe Spring Break!

Appreciate the shoutout. Those boys did all that work to make it possible. Just happy we were able to test ourselves vs the D2 champs twice.
We'll probably have to qualify again next year still. But we are always up for the challenge.
Goodluck to all in their last 3 classic league games. And shoutout the D3 teams for handling their own this weekend in presidents cup.

We are coming into the second to the last weekend of the Spring season, here are the key scenarios;

1 CHELSEA EAST are already mathematically the
Champions of Div. 3 so congratulations on promotion!

2-3 TEXAS XTREME / FCD KANG face off in a virtual playoff game this Saturday. The Kang squad had a good showing at the tournament this past weekend while Xtreme has regained its strong offensive form. A win by Kang virtually guarantees their promotion. A win by Xtreme and it's on to a daunting matchup in the final week. One very good team will be advancing and the other very good team will remain in the newer and tougher Division 3 next season. What's really on the line? The 2 advamcing teams will win advancement into Division 1 in the following year.

4-5 RAYOS / FALLS TOWN are fighting for the coveted 4th place, coveted because it evades the relegation zone. F.T. Is still mathematically alive and coming off a strong performance in the Presidents Cup. Rayos only need one win in their last 2 games to stay in Div. 2 next season.

For the rest it's back to the drawing board for the coaches, parents and players. There are some hungry teams that will be fighting to challenge, but this years teams have gained a valuable experience.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!

Div 3  SEASON FINALE / GAMEDAY POWER RATING
It was a hard fought season in which the teams that had experience and/or managed the age pure mandate found success or relative success.  The rest find themselves relegated, but ready to retool and give it another shot.

Here are where the teams finished, their total season points and the final Gameday Power Rating which defines the strength of their performance over the 18 game season.

#1 52 pts. Chelsea East (10.2) If they continue at their pace they will win Div 2 in 2017-18 and win promotion into Div 1.
#2 43 pts FCD Kang (7.1) Can also beat anyone currently on Div 2 but will they be able to keep the roster intact?
----------------------------------
#3 37 pts. Texas Xtreme (4.9) Strong first year in Classic, will be hard to beat in D3 as U14s.
#4 35 pts. Rayos (4.4) A slow start hurt this team, can they add size and speed in the off-season?
----------------------------------
#5 30 pts. Falls Town (2.9) Apparently beating the winner of D2 twice in a recent tournament doesn't count? We expect F.T. to do well in the Challenge Tournament tegardless of their draw and be back in D3 this Fall.
#6 21 pts.  Solar Chelsea -0.8 This was a newly formed group from their merger,  finished season with a slight negative goal differential. Do they recruit some offense in the off season?
#7  17 pts.  Crush (-2.7) tough, scrappy, competitive could be back if the off-season goes well and have a favorable draw in the tournament.
#8 13 pts.  FCD Topletz (-5.4)
#9 12 pts.  Texas Toros (-7.0)
#10 3 pts.  Evolution (-9.9)

Division 3 welcomes these D2 squads-
Dallas Texans (-3.6)
Dallas Cosmos (-10.9)

Plano Premiere and Arlington Teams to watch for in the Challenge Tournament-
FCD Gold
High Plains Drifters
Barcelona SC
Liverpool Caragher
FC Barcelona
Impact Murador
FC Prosper Dynamos
Liverpool Gerrard

To everyone- good luck in the upcoming tournament season!
Congratulations to all in playing the beautiful game. Use your time wisely in this off-season and invest time in looking at other clubs.  Remember to take some time and rest those young legs.  Get away from futbol for a while and come back ready and refreshed next season!

Good luck to RAYOS and TEXAS XTREME for their entry into the North Texas State Cup!
However North Texas Soccer went about the qualification process, they opened it up to teams from multiple Leagues and Classic Divisions throughout the age groups making for a wider participation.
Here are what our D3 teams are up against;

D3 4th. RAYOS
D1. 4th. Dallas Kicks
D1. 6th. Dallas Texans/Partain
D1. 1st. FC Dallas South Red

D3. 3rd. TEXAS XTREME
D1. 7th. FC Dallas East Gold
D1. 2nd FC Dallas Premiere
D1. 3rd. FC Dallas/Pino

Let's see how many Club Passes are used in the FCD Group?
Let's see how some of these converted 05 squads match up?

Im just guessing we wont see a topic of how D3 is better than D1? It looks like the D3 teams held their own and did not get embarrassed in any game, played 6 games zero wins 5 losses and 1 tie, outscored 8/16. I would of liked to see how CE would have faired. Good luck to the teams who made it to next weekend.

As previously mentioned the D3 representatives held their own but couldn't put one in the win column, but certainly played some competitive futbol.
D3 4th. RAYOS
D1. 4th. Dallas Kicks (2-3)
D1. 6th. Dallas Texans/Partain (0-1)
D1. 1st. FC Dallas South Red (2-2)

D3. 3rd. TEXAS XTREME
D1. 7th. FC Dallas East Gold (0-3)
D1. 2nd FC Dallas Premiere (2-4)
D1. 3rd. FC Dallas/Pino (2-3)

Congrats to all players and teams!

Great stats, but they both finished dead last in their respective groups. Yep, D3 is where they belong. Was very surprised to not see the top 2 teams from D3 in the State Cup. According to GD04, D2 is a mere formality and D1 is where they will be this time next year.

Texas Extreme couldn't play its way out of Division 3. Tournament games and "teams" in no way compare to regular season play. Coming out of PPL though, you didnt know that. The rules are not going to change just because you don't like them. If you want to dominate, go back to PPL. If not, work your way up from the bottom and get over the Division 1 envy....

Thanks for your comments and keeping this thread going. I hear there's a pretty good team out there just waiting by the phone? They"ll even go to you for a scrimmage.

What does the tournament season have in store for us? The big teams slugging it out for the State Title. The movers and shakers will be spread far and wide across the soccer landscape. Hope everyone has a productive off-season!

Still waiting for a convincing win by a D2 team over a D3 team. Let us know if you hear of one?

Absolutely, GD, I'll get right on that.....ROFLMFAO.....I'll cook up some meaningless goal differential statistics to go with them, as well....

That's why I love numbers because they can lie and tell the truth at the same time. That's a fascinating concept that's determined by perception.

GD, you're right we are keeping this thread alive. Which also proves another statistical point, this site has gotten so lame that a D3 team drives site volume. LOL!

Although, not surprising, it's another thread from an '04 parent and we all know their history...
